Here's a little intro to the person behind the camera.  I'm a second generation photographer following in the footsteps of my father Derry Brabbs who is renowned for his landscape and heritage photography and work with James Herriot & Wainwright.  So I guess you could say that it's very much in the blood.  From school I actually followed a career in the NHS as an Occupational Therapist before deciding to follow my passion and establish myself as a freelance photographer.  I'm a big believer in the notion that no experience is ever wasted and the skills and experience taken from this period are so valuable for my photography - whether it's helping to put a nervous subject at ease or working on a commission that requires a sensitive and empathic approach.  Underneath everything though comes a love of working with people and an appreciation that it's the small details that matter.

Storytelling through images is my passion and I particularly love telling the story behind a product.  The people and their expertise, the equipment used, the local environment and importantly processes and techniques.  I therefore love commissions with rural and food production businesses especially as these link with personal interests in the source of food and the organic movement.  Words such as artisan, handcrafted, British made / grown would definitely feature in a dream photography brief!

My love of cameras started in my childhood but I'm so proud that I have now been running a successful photography business for over 10 years.

I live in York with my husband and little girl and am very proud to be a resident of such a beautiful and creative city.  York is an amazing place to live and I particularly love it's cycling ethos.  I still get a buzz turning up to local shoot on my bike!

I'm always delighted to chat photography so please do get in touch to find out more about my work and how I can support your business.

I share lots of information and tons of images from recent commissions on my BLOG so please do pay a visit to get all of the latest news.
