The start of a new year is always a fantastic time to take stock and look at your branding and visual presence with a fresh pair of eyes. Whether you're looking at a complete rebrand or reviewing your website, it's very likely that images will come into consideration at some point.
Images support and are often at the heart of your brand. Photography is all about first impressions and great images are what will grab attention in those first crucial milliseconds of a potential customer landing on your website and make them want to find out more and hopefully buy from you.
I have 10 years of experience working with businesses on their commercial photography needs. To help support your branding goals for the coming year I've developed a great package designed especially for the start up entrepreneur and small business owner. The package includes a consultation and a tailored photography shoot. There is also an optional add on to include some tuition to help improve your own photography skills - perfect for the business owner looking to build a strong instagram following.
CONSULTATION: Sometimes, the best starting point is reviewing where things currently are. A 30 minute consultation is included to help you see where improvements could be achieved. This can be held by phone or in person in one of the wonderful coffee shops on Bishy Road in York. There may already be some really strong points in your image portfolio so it's about identifying where there are gaps and weaker points. This conversation will also help me design and plan the photography shoot to meet your unique requirements.
PHOTOGRAPHY: The package will enable you to have some top quality photography without the need to commit to full day rates. I regularly undertake shorter commissions for businesses, and clients are always delighted at what can be achieved within these time frames. My style of photography is all about storytelling. I use a documentary approach and a feminine eye for detail to really tell the story behind your product, service or establishment. I work primarily with natural light and images have a strong editorial feel to them. How this photography time is used would be dependent on your business sector. The coach or consultant may need the full session to be focused on creating a vibrant portfolio of portraits. In contrast, a food producer might need a sense of process alongside some portraits and product shots. Or for a service based business it may be bringing in a sense of the customer experience.
TUITION ADD-ON: Many business owners are looking to build their visual identities through social media platforms such as instagram. I've therefore designed an add-on option to include an introductory teaching session to help you take better and more consistent images on your camera or smart phone. For example, for those businesses involved in products or lifestyle areas this could include identifying where the best light and environments are at your home or premises for image set ups. Other more general tuition areas would be composition and filter use. This introductory session lasts for one hour. If you feel you need a longer teaching session I'm able to tailor a package to meet your requirements.

- 30 minute consultation by telephone or in person in York in advance of your shoot day (the coffee is on me!)
- 2 hour photography shoot (on location or at your business premises)
You will receive all final edit images at high resolution with a license giving you permission to use the images across all media types without any restrictions. So for example, use for website, blog, social media, press, marketing literature, exhibition displays - would all be covered in the license.

- A one hour introductory teaching session to include guidance on taking your own images for instagram and other social media platforms
You'll also receive lots of plugs on social media to help boost your business. I always love sharing work and this is a great way to get your business in front of a whole new audience of potential customers.
THE SMALL PRINT: Travel expenses will apply for sessions located over 5 miles outside York City Centre. Standard editing and post processing is included in the package fee. Basic beauty retouch work can be included in up to 2 portraits. If further specialist photoshop work is required this will be charged for separately. Please note the Kick Start package is only available to businesses with 5 employees or less.
